About Me

Professor | Director, Institute for Intersectionality Studies (on sabbatical) | Feminist Peace & Conflict Studies | Gender, Justice & Power-Sharing | Northern Ireland, Palestine, and Israel

I am a Professor of Political Science and Director of the Institute for Intersectionality Studies (currently on sabbatical) at the University of Alberta. My research and teaching sit at the intersection of the international relations and gender and politics subfields, with a focus on feminist peace activism, conflict resolution and power-sharing institutional design, the UN-led Women, Peace, and Security agenda, and intersectionality in theory and practice.

I write about—and am forever inspired by—local and global political movements that challenge oppressive power structures and imagine more inclusive, peaceful futures. I am especially interested in how feminist intersectional approaches not only help to bring such movements into view but also serve as the foundation for new coalitions.

At the heart of my work is a deep commitment to supporting collaborative research and teaching that confront systemic inequities and work towards transformative justice.

When I am not in the classroom or the field, I am hiking in the Rockies with my family, reading mid-century spy novels, or slowly working my way through another (unfinished) knitting project.
